Direct Access Testing

Direct Access Testing (DAT)

Lima Memorial Health System is pleased to offer Direct Access Testing (DAT) to our community. Lima Memorial patients may select general health screenings from an extensive menu without the order of a physician.  

Similar to screenings provided at local health fairs, Direct Access Testing provides patients with convenience and easy access to the health screenings needed to prevent and manage serious illness — all at lower costs.

General Health Screen

A collection of screenings for evaluating your overall health. This includes measuring your blood sugar, calcium, electrolytes, blood count and liver and kidney function. A general health screen can also be used to screen for lipidemia, which includes your cholesterol levels.

Men's Health Screen

This health screening focuses on evaluating health and concerns that are prevalent for men, including prostate health, testosterone level, diabetes and risk of heart disease

Women's Health Screen

This health screening package is focused on evaluating overall health and concerns prevalent among women, including diabetes, heart disease, thyroid function and bone health.

Kidney Health Panel

Your kidneys keep your body healthy by removing waste from your blood. Impaired kidney function could cause these wastes to build up in the blood stream and cause serious illness. The kidney health panel uses markers to measure overall kidney function and indicate possible kidney damage.

Diabetes Screening (HA1C)

Blood sugar level is a critical measurement when it comes to your overall health, as high blood sugar levels may indicate prediabetes and diabetes. This HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c) test will measure your average blood sugar level over an extended period of time (around 8-12 weeks) and can help with detecting and monitoring diabetes.

Liver Health Panel

Did you know your liver performs more than 500 functions that support your overall health and wellbeing? It breaks down toxins, provides protection against illness, stores energy and even creates vital proteins. A liver health panel can help determine liver function, screen for inflammation and check for signs of chronic liver disease.

Heart Health Panel (Lipid Panel)

The heart is an extremely essential organ to your wellbeing. It is responsible for pumping blood filled with oxygen and nutrients to all areas of your body. The heart health panel (lipid panel) will assess your heart health using tests that measure fatty substances (cholesterol and triglycerides) in your blood associated with heart disease.

With the basic metabolic panel (BMP), eight substances found in your blood are measured to evaluate your body’s chemical balance and metabolism (the process of using food and energy in the body).

Individual Test Options

For your convenience, below is a list of options that will allow you to choose individual laboratory tests.

• Albumin $15

The albumin blood test measures the amount of albumin in your blood. If your albumin levels are low, it could be a signs of liver or kidney disease or another medical condition. If your albumin levels are high, it may be that you are dehydrated.

• Bilirubin, Total $15

The bilirubin blood test measures the levels of bilirubin in your blood. Bilirubin is a yellowish substance made during the process of breaking down old red blood cells. Bilirubin is found in bile, a fluid made by the liver to assist with digesting food. High levels of bilirubin may indicate a blockage of the bile ducts in the liver or gallbladder.

• Blood Type, ABORH $20

This test finds your blood type (A, B, AB, or O) and if your Rh is positive or negative.

• Calcium $15

The calcium blood test measures the amount of calcium in your blood. Too much or too little calcium in your blood could be a sign of bone disease, thyroid disease, parathyroid disorders, kidney disease and other conditions.

• Carbon Dioxide $15

The carbon dioxide (CO2) blood test measures the amount of carbon dioxide in your blood. The blood carries carbon dioxide to the lungs. When exhaling, you breathe out carbon dioxide. Too much or too little carbon dioxide in the blood can indicate health problems that need attention.

This test can help detect a wide range of health issues, including infections, anemia, diseases of the immune system and blood cancers. The complete blood count test is usually part of a routine checkup.

• Chloride $15

The chloride blood test measures the amount of chloride (a type of electrolyte) in your blood. As an electrolyte, chloride help control the amount of fluids and the balance of acids and bases in your system. Chloride can be measured alongside other electrolytes in the body to diagnose and monitor kidney disease, liver disease, high blood pressure and heart failure.

A cholesterol test measures the amount of cholesterol (and certain fats in your blood. While some cholesterol is needed to stay healthy, too much can be a health concern.

The creatinine blood test measures the level of creatinine in the blood. This test is done to see how well your kidneys are working.

• Ferritin $35

A ferritin blood test measures the level of ferritin in your blood. Ferritin (a protein that stores iron in your cells) is needed to create healthy red blood cells that carry oxygen from your lungs and throughout the body. Iron is also essential for a child’s brain development, as well as healthy organs, muscles and bone marrow. Serious complications can occur with too much or too little iron in your system.

• Glucose $15

A blood glucose test measures the glucose levels in your blood. Glucose is the body’s main source of energy and is a type of sugar. Too much or too little glucose in your blood may indicate serious conditions such as diabetes.

• Hepatitis C Virus $40

Adults 18 to 79 are usually recommended to take a one-time screening for Hepatitis C Virus. Many individuals who have Hepatitis C don’t have symptoms and will need a screening to help in the diagnosis of Hepatitis C before serious health problems occur.

• Hemoglobin & Hematocrit $10

A hemoglobin test measures the levels of hemoglobin in your blood. Hemoglobin is a protein in your red blood cells that carries oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body. If your hemoglobin levels are abnormal, it may be a sign that you have a blood disorder. A hematocrit test is a blood test that measures how much of your blood is made up of red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body.

The iron test measures different substances in the blood to check iron levels in your body. To make red blood cells that carry oxygen from your lungs and body, your body needs iron. Iron levels that too high or low may result in serious health issues.

The magnesium blood test measures the amount of magnesium in your blood. Magnesium, a type of electrolyte, is needed to keep your muscles, nerves and heart functioning correctly. It can also help control blood sugar.

• Phosphatase, Alkaline $15

The alkaline phosphatase (ALP) test measures the amount of ALP in your blood. Levels of ALP that are abnormal may indicate liver disease, bone issues and chronic kidney disease.

• Prostate Specific Antigen Screen $45

The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test is a blood test that measures the level of PSA in a blood sample. The prostate, a part of the male reproductive system, makes the protein PSA. Receiving a PSA screen can help in the early detection of prostate cancer.

The potassium blood test measures the amount of potassium in your blood. Potassium is needed to assist in the proper function of your cells, nerves, heart and muscles. Too low or high potassium levels can indicate medical issues that may need attention.

A total protein test is usually part of a comprehensive metabolic panel to measure proteins and substances found in the blood. This test may help in the diagnosis of kidney disease, liver disease or issues with nutrition.

A serum pregnancy test can tell whether you're pregnant by checking your blood for a specific hormone in pregnancy.

• Sodium $15

A sodium blood test measures the amount of sodium in your blood. Sodium can assist your body with making your nerves and muscles work correctly. Too much or too little of sodium can suggest kidney issues, dehydration or other medical issues.

Testosterone in the blood can be measured and help in the diagnosis of health issues in both males and females.

• Transferase, Alanine Amino $15

An ALT test measures the amount of ALT (an enzyme in the liver) present in your blood. High levels of ALT in your blood can indicate liver injury or disease.

• Transferase, Aspartate Amino $15

An AST blood test measures the amount of AST in your blood. AST (aspartate aminotransferase) is an enzyme that is found mostly in the liver, but it's also in muscles and other organs in your body. When cells that contain AST are damaged, they release the AST into your blood. The test is commonly used to help diagnose liver damage or disease.

A triglycerides test is a blood test that measures the amount of a fat in your blood known as triglycerides. You may be at risk for heart attack or stroke with high levels of triglycerides. A triglycerides test can provide insight on how to lower your risk.

• Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) $35

A TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) test is a blood test that measures TSH levels. High or low TSH levels can indicate issues with the thyroid.

• Urea Nitrogen $15

A blood urea nitrogen test (BUN) can provide insight about your kidney function. The kidneys remove waste and additional fluid from your body. If you are experiencing kidney disease, the waste can build up in the blood and cause serious health problems such as high blood pressure, anemia and heart disease.

• Uric Acid $15

This test measures the amount of uric acid in your blood or urine. High levels of uric acid can be linked to cases of gout as well as kidney disease.

• Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy $45

The vitamin D test measures the level of vitamin D in your blood. Vitamin D is needed to maintain healthy bones and teeth, as well as normal functioning muscles, nerves and immune system. Bone disorders are common among those who may have low vitamin D levels.

• COVID-19 IgG Antibody $60

The COVID-19 IgG Antibody test shows if you have antibodies against the COVID-19 virus. Antibodies are proteins produced by the body in response to harmful substances, such as viruses and bacteria. Antibodies may help protect you from getting infected again (immune). The COVID-19 antibody test is not used to diagnose a current infection with COVID-19.

• COVID-19 PCR, Travel $90

A COVID-19 PCR travel test can test for the virus that causes COVID-19. The test consists of retrieving a mucus sample from your upper respiratory tract to diagnose COVID-19. This test is to be used for clearance when traveling.

Lima Memorial's Direct Access Testing is available for adults 18 and over or accompanied by a parent / legal guardian.

Payment is required at the time of testing as your insurance is not billed. Payment made by credit / debit card only.
