Family Birth Center

The Lima Memorial Family Birth Center embraces the concept of family-centered maternity care. As the only facility in the area to provide “single-room maternity care” birthing suites, expectant moms can experience labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care all in the same room. This allows for a warm, caring, family environment with all the comforts of home.

Our birthing suites are private with the option to utilize hydrotherapy while in labor. Our spacious birthing suites offer a sofa bed for your support person to sleep, as well as a rocking chair and recliner. A celebration meal is provided after delivery for mom and her significant other. Our “At Your Request” dining menu allows moms to order what they want, when they want it, too!

Experienced Care

Our experienced nursing team is with you through the labor and delivery process, from the very beginning of labor until you go home with your newborn. Our compassionate team offers comfort and encouragement throughout the entire process, providing you and your family the highest level of care. Our pediatric hospitalist and anesthesia team are available 24 / 7 for you and your baby.

Elevated Care

Most importantly, you have the reassurance that the Level II neonatal nursery services are right within the unit, ready to provide advanced neonatal care for premature babies or babies who need special care.

Lactation consultants and counselors are also available to assist with breastfeeding during your stay in the Family Birth Center and in our outpatient clinic after discharge.

We take the safety and security of your family seriously. From the start, we will monitor your baby with central monitoring so your nurses can see your fetal monitor strip from anywhere within the unit, and your physician can monitor you and your baby from the hospital, his or her office or from home. A locked unit with security cameras and an intercom provide added security so visitors can be screened prior to visiting. Once your baby is here, the Hugs and Kisses Security System will protect your new bundle of joy.

Your first stop after leaving the hospital should be home. We will fill all your prescriptions from our outpatient pharmacy before you are discharged to home.

Childbirth Education Programs

At the Family Birth Center, we want you to be as comfortable as possible during childbirth, and comfort begins with knowing what to expect. We offer a series of comprehensive childbirth programs and workshops to educate expectant parents on the stages of pregnancy, the birthing process and follow-up care. Baby on Board

The Lima Memorial Family Birth Center cares about the health and well-being of your baby. That’s why we offer free car seat safety checks for our newborn families and expectant parents. While installing a car seat may not be simple, it is easy to set up a 30-minute appointment with one of our certified car seat instructors.

Our certified instructors will evaluate the car, the car seat and the child to ensure the car seat is appropriate for the child’s height, weight and age. The instructor will make sure the car seat is installed correctly and teach parents how to install a car seat on their own to ensure safe family travels.
