Dr. Jeremy Heffner, LMHS General Surgeon, recently performed and surpassed his 100th LINX Reflux Management System procedure. This achievement puts Lima Memorial in the top five facilities in the Midwest to have completed more than 100 LINX procedures in less than three years.
The LINX Reflux Management System is a minimally invasive procedure that places a small, quarter-sized band of magnetic beads around the lower esophagus to prevent acid from traveling upward. The procedure typically lasts less than an hour, and patients are expected to go home within 24 hours of their procedure—often medication free.
"It's truly an honor to work with such a dedicated team in serving our patients,” shared Dr. Heffner. “This milestone not only reflects our dedication to enhancing the well-being of our community, but also highlights the importance of providing advanced procedures like this at a local level. I'm proud to be part of a team that continually makes a positive impact on the health of the greater Lima region."
The Lima Memorial Surgical Services team was also recognized in 2022 for surpassing 5000 robotic surgeries, with Dr. Heffner surpassing his 2000th robotic surgery case. With innovative technologies like robotic surgery, or robot-assisted surgery, Lima Memorial’s physicians perform highly complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control. This advanced technology, along with a highly-skilled and passionate surgical team, is critical to Lima Memorial’s delivery of exceptional care to the community. Lima Memorial’s patients benefit from less pain, smaller incisions, shorter hospital stays and improved recovery times.
