Today, Lima Memorial Health System announced plans for a $23 million building expansion and investment in the health of the community. The addition of the Professional Office Building (POB) IV will accommodate the ever-growing number of specialty and primary care physicians who have joined Lima Memorial’s medical team to bring advanced health care to the region. Coupled with a new entrance and front lobby, the building project is designed to meet our region’s evolving health care needs and enhance the patient and family experience. Lima Memorial’s ongoing commitment to delivering the highest level of care and service allows the community to benefit from expert care close to home.
The 54,000 square foot POB IV will be constructed on the site of the former Annex and School of Nursing building. This three-story building will conveniently locate specialty and primary care physicians and advanced practice providers under one roof. Additionally, Walk-In Care services will be available for children and adults with evening and weekend hours. Space will also be designated for a full-service outpatient pharmacy and the future development of a chronic disease management center.
A walkway will connect POB IV to the new lobby to allow patients, their families and visitors to conveniently navigate to inpatient and outpatient areas of the hospital. A new, inviting front entrance will be designed for enhanced patient and visitor access, complete with a large canopy and valet service. The front lobby will feature many contemporary amenities to enhance the overall patient and visitor experience. Highlights include an expanded, modernized gift shop and new café. An outdoor patio will also offer a serene setting for patients, their families and visitors.
Groundbreaking for the expansion project is scheduled for Spring 2017. This construction project will serve as an economic stimulus for our region. An estimated 200 contractors will work on the project, and hospital officials expect 50 permanent jobs to be added as a result of the expansion. The project is slated for completion in Winter 2018.
Hospital officials say the expansion will modernize the health system and position Lima Memorial to adapt to the ever-changing healthcare landscape. “This expansion will allow us to better meet the increasing demand for specialized services, provide convenient access to clinically advanced care and enhance the overall patient and family experience,” said Mike Swick, President and CEO, Lima Memorial Health System. “It’s a significant step forward for Lima Memorial and our community.”
