Lima Memorial Health System has been awarded the Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI from the American College of Cardiology. With this accreditation, Lima Memorial Health System demonstrates expertise and commitment in treating patients with chest pain based on rigorous onsite evaluation of the team’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
To meet the criteria of this accreditation, Lima Memorial has taken thorough steps to ensure excellent and timely care is provided to heart attack patients, from patient admission and evaluation all the way through to post-discharge care with recommendations and assistance in patient lifestyle changes. In addition to this, the accreditation allows Lima Memorial to partner with other facilities to regularly refer heart attack patients to Lima Memorial Health System for primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), a non-invasive surgical procedure that opens narrowed or blocked coronary arteries with a balloon to relieve heart disease symptoms or reduce damage during or after a heart attack.
“Our team is incredibly proud to have earned this accreditation for our community,” says Hope Bish, Chest Pain Center Coordinator at Lima Memorial Health System. “Patients and their families can be assured they will receive exceptional heart attack care that will provide the best possible outcome.”
Hospitals that have earned the ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year.
