Heart-Healthy Program Scheduled at Allen East School
Lima Memorial will be hosting a heart-healthy school program for Allen East Elementary School to kick off American Heart Month as well as National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 2. Lima Memorial professionals will be teaching and interacting with Allen East students grades 2-5 showing them the benefits of being heart-healthy. Students will be able to participate in a variety of interactive stations including a hands-only CPR demonstration, how to create a heart healthy meal and topping it off with an interactive exercise routine.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to visit Allen East School and conduct a heart-healthy program for the students,” stated Jessica Cunningham, RN Clinical Manager Cardiac Catheterization Lab and CIU. “It is important to educate our youth on the importance of heart health.”
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, one in four deaths are caused by heart disease. The good news is heart disease can often be prevented when people make healthy choices and manage their health conditions. Educating children at a very young age is key to instilling heart-healthy habits that will promote good health and well-being into their adulthood.
