Lima Memorial Foundation Recognizes Philanthropy Paying Special Tribute to Jim Unverferth

On Thursday, April 4, the Lima Memorial Foundation will host Ovation, an event to honor individuals and businesses who believe in and are committed to advancing the health of our community through philanthropic gifts to the Foundation. The evening will feature a special tribute to honor the memory of Jim Unverferth, former President of HCF Management, Inc. and community advocate.

Ten individuals and businesses will be recognized with the Henderson Award for their contributions to the Lima Memorial Foundation, cumulatively reaching $25,000. Additionally, five individuals and businesses will receive the distinguished Chairman Award for their lifetime contribution to the Foundation exceeding $100,000. Nutrien will be recognized with the Cora Davies Award for the company’s outstanding philanthropic commitment to Lima Memorial with cumulative contributions reaching the impressive $250,000 level.

In addition to these very distinguished awards, the Foundation will also recognize an individual who exemplifies selfless and enthusiastic volunteerism in support of the Lima Memorial Foundation with the 2018 Ambassador of the Year Award. Additionally, a local business will be presented with the Infinity Award for displaying a boundless commitment to Lima Memorial.

The evening will be highlighted with a special tribute to Jim Unverferth for his remarkable philanthropic spirit that was rooted by a genuine love of people. Jim Unverferth dedicated his life to his family, friendships, work family and community. As president of HCF Management, Inc., Jim was an honorable leader who always led by example. He truly believed caring for the elderly was a privilege, and he challenged his team every day. He had a passion for being involved for the good of the community and had the vigor and intensity to lead individuals to a common goal. 

The individuals and businesses being honored have helped advance health care for the greater Lima region through their ongoing investment in Lima Memorial. Currently, the Lima Memorial Foundation Board of Trustees is raising $2.5 million to completely transform the way inpatient rehabilitation is delivered for our region. The investment will leverage the outstanding care being delivered by Lima Memorial’s inpatient rehabilitation team by creating a family-centered, community-based environment, complete with innovative therapeutic technology.
