Lima Memorial Health System to Host Inflatable Colon Exhibit

On Friday, March 29, a large inflatable colon exhibit from Boston Scientific will be on display in the LMHS Welcome Center from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for patients, visitors and associates to walk through and explore. Along with educational features inside the inflatable exhibit, Dr. Shannon Wesley, Proctologist, and her team from LMHS Surgical Specialists, will be present to answer questions regarding colorectal cancer screenings, preventive care and colorectal cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States, with about 106,590 new cases of colon cancer and 46,220 new cases of rectal cancer expected to be diagnosed in 2024 alone. The good news is that colorectal cancer is highly preventable and treatable if detected early with preventive screening.
