Patients Benefit From Unmatched Precision and Superior Outcomes
Lima Memorial’s nationally recognized surgical robotics program has expanded to a whole new dimension with the recent introduction of sophisticated robotic technology for spine and brain surgery. Exclusively at Lima Memorial, these revolutionary robotic systems offer our region unmatched precision and superior outcomes.
With the addition of the Mazor X™ Robotic Guidance Platform, Lima Memorial is one of just three health systems in the state to leverage technology that combines pre-operative 3D planning tools and computer analytics with intra-operative guidance. This robotic technology enables surgeons at Lima Memorial to plan and visualize the spine surgery before ever making an incision. Importantly, it also provides surgical navigation for the precise placement of spinal implants and screws.
Alongside the robotic spine system, Lima Memorial is the first health system east of the Mississippi River to introduce the innovative Stealth Autoguide System™ for brain surgery. This cutting-edge technology provides real-time visualization, feedback for precise alignment and intra operative navigation to pinpoint lesions or brain tumors for biopsies and/or tumor resection. This technology provides patients unparalleled safety and accuracy.
“As spine and brain surgeries have evolved, more focus has been placed on minimally invasive techniques. However, smaller incisions can pose a challenge to surgeons due to the limited view of the patient’s anatomy,” stated Lima Memorial Neurosurgeon Jeffrey Lobel, MD, FAANS, FACOS. “Robotic-guided spine and brain technology allows us to perform minimally-invasive surgeries with increased planning, visualization, safety and precision. This means improved outcomes for our patients with smaller incisions, less blood loss, less postoperative pain and an overall faster recovery.”
“We are fortunate to have highly skilled neurosurgeons and orthopaedic spine surgeons in our medical community. Their expertise, combined with this advanced technology, gives our patients access to the very best care locally,” said Dr. Dennis Morris, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer.
Lima Memorial has established its reputation as a leader in robotic surgery, having the privilege to serve as a national destination and training site for robotic surgeons across the country. Lima Memorial exclusively serves as a designated site for the da Vinci® Robotic Mentor Program.
