The trauma center at Lima Memorial Hospital has once again been reverified as a Level II Trauma Center. For 17 years, Lima Memorial has maintained this achievement which recognizes the Lima Memorial Trauma Services team’s dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients.
“We have been reverified as a Level II Trauma Center since 2004, and we are extremely honored to continue upholding this standard of trauma care in our community,” states Dr. Noorul Khan, Lima Memorial’s Trauma Services Medical Director. “We are fully equipped with the support, talent and team needed to address any trauma situation that may come through our doors.”
In order to be reverified as a Level II Trauma Center, Lima Memorial underwent a rigorous evaluation process administered by the Verification Review Committee, an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons.
“This reverification not only touches on Lima Memorial’s Emergency Center, but our hospital’s trauma care as a whole,” expresses Dr. Jeremy J. Heffner, Certified Critical Care and General Surgeon with Lima Memorial. “It has assured that Lima Memorial is fully capable of caring for trauma patients from the moment they enter the ER all the way through to their follow up.”
In addition to trauma care, Lima Memorial Trauma Services supports the community by offering adult and child bicycle and helmet safety fairs, water safety programs, children’s health fairs and educational programs about fall prevention, distracted driving, motorcycle and ATV safety and sports-related injuries.
