Lima Memorial Health System will host its next Exploring™ event for local high school students in grades 9 - 12 on Wednesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. The event will highlight the variety of cardiac-related career options available in healthcare. Students will have the opportunity to work with Dr. Pamela Gardner, a board-certified cardiologist, and the Lima Memorial cardiac team to learn about the general anatomy of a heart through the dissection of a pig heart. Multiple dissection stations will be set up to ensure all students have the opportunity for hands-on learning.
The Exploring™ Program is designed to provide positive and meaningful real-world experiences and leadership development opportunities for students in their chosen field(s) of interest. By becoming a program participant, students will be able to make informed decisions about future careers and determine if a particular healthcare career is right for them. As an explorer, students will participate in hands-on experiences, network with healthcare professionals, learn about the latest technology in health care, learn about educational requirements needed and practice leadership skills.
