Following a standing-room only ExploringTM Open House held at Lima Memorial Health System earlier this month, the hospital will host its first ExploringTM event for high school students, grades 9-12, on Wednesday, November 28 at 7 p.m. highlighting Lima Memorial’s Emergency Center, Trauma and EMS teams. In addition to receiving a behind-the-scenes look at our Emergency Center in action, students will learn about numerous job opportunities in the Emergency Room setting by participating in a variety of interactive activities, to include:
- Learn how a breathing tube assists patients
- Perform Hands-Only CPR
- Learn how to stop bleeds
- Learn how to insert an intraosseous needle into bone
- Receive a front-row view of our air and mobile medical transport vehicles
The Exploring™ program is designed to provide positive and meaningful real-world experiences and leadership development opportunities for students in their chosen field(s) of interest. By becoming a program participant, students will be able to make informed decisions about future careers and determine if a particular healthcare career is right for them. As an explorer, students will, participate in hands-on experiences, network with healthcare professionals, learn about the latest technology in health care, learn about educational requirements needed and practice leadership skills.
