Lima Memorial Health System will host its final ExploringTM event for the 2018 – 2019 school year, for high school students, grades 9-12, on Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. The event will take place at the Lima Memorial Wellness Center located inside the Lima Family YMCA. Designed to highlight physical and occupational therapy career options, students will have the opportunity to participate in therapy-driven exercises to gain an understanding of the role therapists have in helping patients regain independence after a stroke, injury, illness or surgery. In addition to hands-on demonstrations of balance trainings, rehabilitation professionals will also demonstrate therapeutic modalities used to allow participants to gather knowledge of the wide range of techniques used in rehabilitation.
The Exploring™ Program is designed to provide positive and meaningful real-world experiences and leadership development opportunities for students in their chosen field(s) of interest. By becoming a program participant, students will be able to make informed decisions about future careers and determine if a particular healthcare career is right for them. As an explorer, students will, participate in hands-on experiences, network with healthcare professionals, learn about the latest technology in health care, learn about educational requirements needed and practice leadership skills.
