Lima Memorial Women’s Health Center Receives Generous Texas Roadhouse Donation

Lima Memorial Health System’s Women’s Health Center has been chosen to receive a generous donation of gift cards from Lima’s local Texas Roadhouse and its patrons. Texas Roadhouse held a fundraiser this year that raised more than $1500 to help purchase these cards, which will be given to patients who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer or finishing treatment.
"The best feeling in life is when you can give without expectation of something in return,” expressed Dr. Darlene Weyer, Medical Director of the LMHS Women’s Health Center. “When we give our patients these gift cards, it puts a smile on their face, and it brings them comfort knowing that someone in the community, a stranger, donated to the cause and cares about them during a scary and uncertain time in their life.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States. It is recommended that women receive yearly mammograms as suggested by their doctor to catch breast cancer in its earliest and most treatable stages.
