Lima Memorial Health System will host the Listen to Your Heart Program at Perry Elementary School on Friday, March 17. The program offers a fun and interactive way of teaching elementary students about heart health and living a heart-healthy lifestyle.
Lima Memorial’s Listen to Your Heart Program will show Perry students grades 1 - 4 the benefits of being heart healthy through teaching and a variety of interactive stations, including a hands-only CPR demonstration, heart-healthy nutrition relay station and a “When to Call 9-1-1” game.
“We are excited about the opportunity to visit Perry Elementary and share knowledge about heart-healthy living,” says Hope Bish, Cardiovascular Clinical Improvement and Quality Resource Management. “It is extremely important to educate our youth on how to take care of their heart.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, one in four deaths are caused by heart disease. The good news is heart disease can often be prevented when people make healthy choices and take steps to manage their health conditions. Educating children at a very young age is key to instilling heart-healthy habits that will promote good health and well-being into their adulthood.
