Lima Memorial Health System received the Bronze Milestone Recognition from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) after achieving the IAC echocardiography accreditation for more than 20 years. Every three years, accredited facilities like Lima Memorial undergo an intensive application and review process to re-earn accreditation. This achievement demonstrates Lima Memorial’s long-term commitment to continuously improving patient outcomes and safety with echocardiography.
“Our team is incredibly dedicated to going above and beyond for our patients,” says Brian Scheid, director of cardiopulmonary services at Lima Memorial Health System. “This accreditation is a testament to the high-quality level of care and safety our patients and their families can expect at Lima Memorial. We are very proud of our team and the 20 years of hard work and dedication they have provided for our community.”
Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious cardiovascular conditions. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. IAC accreditation assesses the many factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on echocardiography.
Patients, referring physicians and insurers look for the IAC seal of accreditation as the ‘gold standard’ in the field of echocardiography. Facilities that achieve IAC accreditation demonstrate a clear indicator that they provide a high-quality level of patient care.
