Casey Miller, Emma Ranney and Addie Davis, students from Ohio Northern University, will be donating stuffed polar bears to the pediatrics unit at Lima Memorial on Wednesday, January 31.
The donation was part of the students involvement in Mortar Board, a national honor society recognizing college seniors for their exemplary scholarship, leadership and service. Funds were raised through the Reindeer Run, a Christmas-inspired 5K on Ohio Northern’s campus. Mortar Board also partnered with the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
In addition to their leadership and service skills, these three ladies are equally dedicated to their studies, all in a health-related field. Casey is a pre-physical therapy, athletic training major with a minor in biomedical sciences, Emma Ranney, the Mortar Boards President, is majoring in Biochemistry and Addie Davis is a biology, pre-med major she is also a member of the partnering sorority.
This entire process has been very rewarding. One of Mortar Board’s values is based on service,” stated Miller. “Helping brighten the day of a child in the hospital is an amazing way to do that!”
