In his final year of college at ONU, Tyler Horne was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is also a part of the immune system. Tyler remembers the diagnosis as a hard moment for him and his family, but the collaborative care he received from the Lima Memorial team provided him with a strong sense of support, comfort and optimism to keep studying, to keep going to classes and to keep living.
"It's their kind of attention to detail and care that is inspiring and helps you through the process," expresses Tyler. "They give you a certain level of care that makes you feel that everything is going to be ok. From the very beginning, they laid out my entire plan. They let me know we were going to do it together and that everything would be ok."
Throughout his care journey, Tyler required the expert care of multiple providers to treat and eventually beat cancer. From an initial visit at the LMHS Ada Medical Center and a referral to LMHS Ear, Nose and Throat, to chemotherapy with Dr. Xiusheng Qin's team, radiology needs and kidney surgery with Dr. Jaber Alanzi, Tyler is extremely thankful to have been cared for by a team with the same goals in mind for him.
"I want to say thank you to the team for how personable you are with me,” Tyler shares. “Thank you for giving me the comfort to know everything is going to be ok, and thank you for giving the comfort to my family, too."
Tyler has since graduated from ONU and now works locally as a software engineer.
LMHS would like to thank Tyler for taking time to share his story with us. It brings us great happiness to know our team has provided Great Care on multiple levels for Tyler and his family. This is truly what Great Care looks like!
