Turning Loss into Love

In November 2023, tragedy struck when Hailey's daughter Ellie, just 16 months old, was taken away by an unforeseen heart condition in her sleep. Heartbreak and disbelief gripped Hailey and her family, but amidst this sudden darkness, Hailey and her family discovered a heartfelt way to bring warmth and comfort into their lives.
"We wanted to do something in her name," Hailey shared.
Hailey's husband and his workplace stepped forward to create a meaningful tribute to little Ellie—a toy drive that would bring smiles, love and joy to others, just as Ellie had brought happiness into their lives.
"She always had a smile on her face, and she would have loved to do this herself and put a smile on other people's faces," Shellie, Ellie's grandmother, expressed.
In a selfless act of spreading love and happiness, a donation of toys was delivered to the Lima Memorial Emergency Center by Ellie's family. The toys, carefully chosen to bring comfort and distraction during a difficult time for pediatric patients, stood as a tribute to little Ellie's memory and a reminder that even in the face of profound loss, we can spread ripples of warmth and love to all.
